  • CanSkate

    Ages: 5-12 years old

    Ideal for skaters who can move unassisted and are building technique and skill. CanSkate Stages 1-6 teaches fundamental skills for all ice sports including: hockey, ringette, figure skating, speed skating and recreational skating.

  • Learn to Figure Skate

    Ages: 5+ years old

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    Learn to Figure Skate is designed as an introduction to figure skating for skaters who have reached CanSkate Stage 3 or above.

  • PowerSkating

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    • WHSC offers U7 / U9 / U11 / U13 & U15

    PowerSkating is a high-energy program geared to hockey and ringette players looking to level up their skating skills. This program focuses on developing the 3 fundamental areas of skating: Balance, Control and Agility and includes components of power and speed.

    Skating skills, techniques and performance drills are instructed in a progressive format by our certified NCCP PowerSkating Skate Canada coaches.

  • Junior STARSkate

    Ages: 5+

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    Annual Skate Canada Membership Required

    The Junior STARSkate program is suitable for beginner level figure skaters, who have achieved CanSkate Stage 5 skills or equivalent.

    This program is inclusive of both on-ice instruction and off-ice (fitness) group training. On-ice instruction focuses on jump and spin technique, skating skills. and musicality. Off-ice training focuses on strength, flexibility, coordination and technique.

    Private lessons are optional for skaters at this level for an additional fee. Contact us for more details.

  • Intermediate STARSkate

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    Annual Skate Canada Membership Required

    The Intermediate STARSkate program is suitable for graduates of the JR STAR program, who can still benefit from group instruction.

    This program is inclusive of both on-ice instruction and off-ice (fitness) group training. On-ice instruction focuses on jump and spin technique, skating skills. and musicality. Off-ice training focuses on strength, flexibility, coordination and technique.

    Private lessons are optional for skaters at this level for an additional fee. Contact us for more details.

  • INT/SR STARSkate

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    Annual Skate Canada Membership Required

    At this level, STARSkaters it is essential to work with coaches in a private or semi-private lesson format for customized training. INT/SR STAR focuses on the STAR 1-Gold curriculum in the disciplines of FreeSkate, Skating Skills, Ice Dance and Artistic skating.

    Students have the opportunity to compete in STARSkate competitions and complete standardized assessments throughout. the season when they are ready.

  • Podium Pathway

    Fees are Prorated based on start date.

    The Podium Pathway program is designed for all skaters who have progressed beyond the INT/SR STARSkate program and show commitment, enthusiasm and potential to advance.

    Skaters enrolled in the competitive stream learn a variety of life skills as they progress up the competition ladder. Strong work ethic is emphasized during each day of training at WHSC as the coaches strive and encourage positive personality traits that will help carry these young athletes through their entire lives.

    Determination, dedication, commitment and the ability to act as role models for younger skaters will help them achieve excellence on and off the ice. Skaters may compete at Skate Canada Sectionals, Skate Canada Challenge, and/or the Canadian National Figure Skating Championships and may earn the chance to be selected to represent Canada internationally.

  • Adult & Teen Learn to Skate

    Ages: 18 and Up for Adults and 13 and Up for Teens.

    Fees are Prorated based on start date

    The Adult & Teen Skate Program is growing in popularity and offers opportunities for Adult and Teen skaters to learn in group lessons format from basic to advanced levels of skating skills and movements and allows skaters to develop their skating in a fun, social environment.

    A CSA approved helmet is optional but strongly recommended for beginner skaters.

    Proper fitting Hockey or Figure Skates (very important for preventing foot/ankle injuries and for better skating progression).

    Appropriate skating attire (skating dress or athletic wear are acceptable) and must have warm gloves with all fingers mobile (mittens are not recommended).

    Complimentary equipment consultation is available.

  • Adult & Teen Learn to Figure Skate

    Ages: 18 and Up for Adults and 13 and Up for Teens.

    The Adult & Teen Learn to Figure Skate program offers opportunities for Adult and Teen skaters to learn in group lessons format in a fun, social environment.

    On-ice delivery of skating skills will focus on improving and mastering the basic skating skills while progressing to learn intermediate edges, turns, glides, field of moves and elements such as spins, jumps, spirals.

    A CSA approved helmet is optional but strongly recommended for beginner skaters.

    Proper fitting Figure Skates (very important for preventing foot/ankle injuries and for better skating progression).

    Hair tied back away from skater’s face.

    Appropriate skating attire (skating dress or athletic wear are acceptable) and must have warm gloves with all fingers mobile (mittens not recommended).

  • Adult-Only Skating Sessions

    West Hillhurst Skating Club is proud to offer adult-only skating sessions for adult athletes to enjoy a relaxed session to refine their skills and work towards individual goals.

  • Adult Edge & Movement Class

    Join us for adult edge & movement classes! These sessions are coach-led and incorporate full-body movements to music.
